Four Generations of Krakenbergs! Max Joseph Krakenberg, Max Nile Krakenberg, John Oakley Krakenberg and John Omar Krakenberg.
Main Feature
Welcome...First I would like to say that this site is very new to me and I will try to improve it with time. The header name is one version of the earliest spelling for this family. I will at some point in time be adding photos, and other records to this page. I have started with the "Franz" branch" which is my "Wisconsin" branch and also started the "Crackenberger", "Canada" and "New York" branches. If your name does not appear yet it means I haven't got to that branch yet. I wanted to get this up and running so it can be corrected as we go forward. I owe a big thanks to Braden for helping me on this web site and also to many of you out there who have helped with lots of information and inspiration.
I would also like to dedicate this to Irene Towne who wrote the two "Krackenberger Konnection Books" in the mid 1990's. I will call this web-site an update to her books.
I know of one more branch of Krakenbergs that is part of Christa (Krakenberg) Richter's family. She lives in Fuchtof, Germany and this information comes from Gloria Krakenberg.

Feature Story 1 The spellings of our family name have changed over time from family to family. The header spelling of the Krackenbergh name was the first of record that we know of. The "Krackenberger" spelling seems to the most common with some modern families using "Krakenberger" and some using "Krakenberg" We also have a large family with the "Crackenberger" and "Crackenberg" spelling. The name has been misspelled in many censuses but I have listed the main spellings.
The Crackenbergers This family got my interest when I discovered an unknown name to me. Peter Krackenberger (1820-1881) was on a grave in the Northwest part of Illinois. Today I will say with almost 99% assurance that this Crackenberger family is part of "our" Krackenberger family. Update (Oct 2016) This is part of the Krackenberger "tree" now with over 700 descendants from Peter, son of Georg Jakob Krackenberger, son of Franz Krackenberger & Katherina Geduldig.
Canada and New York Krakenbergs I have been working on these two lines for some time now. It appears they are connected as the work that Gloria Krakenberg has done in Germany now shows. This branch started in Volkmarsen Germany and the two lines came the USA and Canada at different times.
Connecting with Cousins My first big connection was with Irene Towne who wrote the "Krackenberger Konnection" books. We shared a lot of information. Next was Richard Krackenberger in Indiana who e-mailed a 65 page translation of the "Decendants of Johannes Christoph Krackenbergh" by Didier Krackenberger who had done all of the research on the family in France. I finally connected with Didier also. I still have a copy of our first "Konnection" on Facebook when he said "yes I am the author of that book" Thank you all for your hard work. I have had many more "Konnections" with cousins from all over the world and continue to find more. Update (Nov 2016) The biggest high lite of connecting with cousins came when Jan and I made our trip to Germany and France in Apr/May of 2015. We were able meet Gloria and Max Krakenberg (not yet cousins) Christelle & Mickel and children Emma, Noah, Erin & Raphael along with Sylvie and grandpa Wendelin Krackenberger. We also met Joseph & Evelyne Krackenberger, his son Thierry and children Claire & Aline and a sister to Joseph & Wendelin, Elisabeth & daughter Anita. Dominique & Patrick Nicolas along with their sons Jean-Baptiste & Thomas hosted us in Nancy France and set up a meeting in Walschbronn France with one special cousin Didier Krackenberger & his wife Chantal. What memories!!
